Giving Tuesday 2021

Have you heard of GivingTuesday? GivingTuesday is a global day of generosity that will take place on November 30, 2021.

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

Recent data shows that people are highly motivated to give in 2021, and are giving more in response to needs in their community and for causes they care about. People can show their generosity in a variety of ways during GivingTuesday—whether it’s helping a neighbor, advocating for an issue, sharing a skill, or giving to causes—everyone has something to give and every act of generosity counts.

Norma Brower In Memoriam

It is with heavy hearts that the Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area announces the passing of our beloved executive board member, Norma Jean Brower. Norma faithfully served our organization for six years.

Norma was born into a very closely knit family in Atlantic City, NJ. She wove her children and grandchildren close to her in the very same way. On a larger scale, Norma Brower through her affiliations wove the larger Danville community and state of Virginia into a closely knit relationship. In this day and time, that kind of leadership is rare.

Please keep her family and friends in your prayers. Norma carried the banner of "the power and promise" of youth, and she leaves us with the legacy.
