Christmas Pancake Breakfast a Success!

This past Saturday was our annual Christmas Pancake Breakfast and it was a success! A delightful breakfast was served, book bags, fruit bags, gift cards and BBBS sweatshirts were given to the children. They also participated in holiday crafts as well as games like “Four Square” and “Hot Potato”; while some volunteers and staff joined in as well. Donate to the BBBS of Danville’s ‘Candy Land’ Tree Dec. 1-9!

BBBS will be participating in the “Decorate A Tree For A Cause”. Numerous trees funded and decorated by certified charitable organizations are now on display. You may donate towards the tree/organization of your choice starting Dec. 1-9. The three top organizations who raise the most money will be placed in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Sheriff Mike Mondul is a dedicated Big Brother. He and his little have been matched for almost three years. He acts as a mentor, guidance counselor, coach, and community advocate. Dr. Tamara Webster devotes time with her little, Jasmine. Even though she has a busy schedule she often text her little sister. They go on outings together. Whenever the youth moves, the volunteer continues the match. Tamara hardly misses any activities the agency offers. She often listens to her little sister when she opens up to talk to her. On November 3, a few of our little’s and a few Big Brothers had a training at Texas Steakhouse where the trainer was 4H agent, Tadashi Totten from the Virginia Corporate Ext. Littles Visit Rigney Farm

On Monday, October 27, a few of our little’s visited The Rigney Farm. After the farm tour, which included feeding the cows, they grilled hot dogs and roasted marshmallows. This event was sponsored by the Mt. Hermon Willing Servants Sunday School Class.

On Monday, October 20, was our girl’s turn to head out to Owen Farm, Dry Fork, VA. They were also given a tour of the farm and picked pumpkins from the garden.
