Men’s Ministry of Ascension Lutheran Church went on a tour with the youth of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area to DCC. The tour began on South Main Street at the Wyatt Building and ended at the Temple Building on Bonner Avenue. The tour included Foundation Hall; the Charles Hawkins Building (Engineering and Industrial Tech); the Hill Building (Air Conditioning and Graphic Imaging); and the Learning Resource Center (Cosmetology). The evening ended with dinner at O’Kelly’s.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area provides one-to-one mentoring for children in Danville and Pittsylvania County, serving over 300 children annually.

2024 Regional Scripps Spelling Bee
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area held the Regional Spelling Bee at Averett University, Blount Chapel, on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Dante Pauley from Tunstall Middle School emerged as the winner. The winning word was toploftical, which means very superior in air or attitude. The winner is able to compete in the National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Maryland May 26-31.

Big Brothers Big Sisters at Capitol Hill
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area CEO Pat Daniel attended BBBS at Capitol Hill Day in Washington DC on February 28, 2024. 115 BBBS agency leaders from 91 agencies from 31 states were in attendance as well as local BBBS affiliate CEO's, National Staff, and BBBS Board of Directors members.
