On Saturday, December 6, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area hosted the Annual Pancake Breakfast in the SOVAH Health Dining Hall. Litehouse Foods volunteers served pancakes to the youth and helped the youth make gingerbread houses. BBBS Board Member and Big Mike Mondul served youth at the Hot Chocolate Bar. On Saturday December 6, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area attended Alpha Phi Alpha Anniversary Luncheon, Hotel Roanoke. Four Littles attended the event with Board Member Kelvin Perry. Guests included Youth Serving Organization mentees pictured with Undergraduate brothers from Radford University and VA Tech and Graduate brothers from Roanoke, Danville, and Lynchburg. Pathways for Future Engineers with Dr. Trey Waller and Perry and Kim Martin gave a lecture about first generation college students and admissions. The youth completed an engineering project and were given goodie bags as takeaways.
On July 18, youth visited the VA Tech Athletic Complex which included Lane Stadium, Cassell Coliseum, and Merryman Training Facility. Afterwards, the youth visited the Booker T. Washington Museum.
Little Hamir attended the Dan River Bethel Civic League 87th Anniversary with his Big Gary. All youth in attendance were recognized by the Board Chair Dorothy Neals.
The 2025 Scripps Regional Spelling Bee was held Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 3:00pm at Averett University's Blount Chapel. Dr. Marc Muneal acted as a pronouncer. The three judges were Dr. Jennifer Hughes, Eben Leigh and Tia Yancey.
Twelve students competed in the Bee from the city of Danville and Pittsylvania County Public Schools. There was one student from Sacred Heart School. The Bee went on for seven rounds with Layla Barrett from Chatham Middle School, emerging as the winner. The winning word was "stupa."

J. Hoffman, J. Word, M. Beasley (Board Chair), S Wingate, E. A. Woody, E. White, J. Menefee, and M. Mondul attended a Board of Directors meeting for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area. The meeting was held at Caesar's Virginia on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
BBBS Capitol Hill Day took place in Washington DC on Feb 26. The training sessions focused on Senate and Congressional Presentations. The trip ended with visits to Senators Kaine and Warner's offices and Congresspersons John McGuire, Jennifer McClellan, and Ben Cline.
