Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area Celebrates 50th Anniversary

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area celebrated our 50th Birthday on June 22 at Woodrow Wilson Services Center. Guests for the event included Danville's Mayor Alonzo Jones. Bigs, Littles, parents, current board members, and school board staff attended the event.

Other volunteers supported the event as well. Every celebrant left the event with swag: 2023 glasses, bags, water bottles, and tshirts. There would not be a party without birthday cake, ice cream, and snacks. Plus, the youth took home treat bags.

Our organization was founded by Judge Spiros Skendaris in June 1973 with our first Executive Director being Paul Reavis. The first Board Chairperson was James Greiner, former director of Danville Parks and Rec.

Turning 50 is a "Big Thing." For more info, call 434-773-8394.
