Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area, Morning Star Family Medicine, and Averett University sponsored the local Spelling bee on Saturday, March 15th, 2015 at Blount Chapel. Twenty- four children local, private, and public schools participated in the “Bee.”
Madison Fuentes was the pronouncer. The spellers went sixty-one rounds before a winner was announced. The 2014 winner was Jacob McDaniel (left to right), an 8th grader at Sacred Heart Private School. The runner up was Caleb Adams, a 6th grader at Westwood Middle School.
The winner will advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee on May 25, 2014 – May 25, 2014 at the Gaylord National in Washington, D.C.
