On Saturday, December 3rd, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area held its Annual Christmas Pancake Breakfast at the Danville Regional Medical Center. The event began with holiday crafts assisted by team members of Target. Danville Toyota provided the children with cards to decorate and send thoughtful words to our Troops overseas. Following that, breakfast was served. Among the spread was various donuts given by Danville Donuts. As the event went along there was a visit from Santa, and musical selections by the New Harbor Missionary Baptist Church Choir. Concluding the event the children were given gift cards provided by Target and It’s Fashion. Also the children were able to shop from “Santa’s Grocery”, and “Santa’s Shoe Shop”. An added bonus of socks was given by Optima Health /Andy Strader. A special thanks to IKEA for providing the groceries and State Farm for “Shoes for Kids’ Sake”. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area provides one-to-one mentoring for children in Danville and Pittsylvania County, serving over 300 children annually.

2024 Regional Scripps Spelling Bee
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area held the Regional Spelling Bee at Averett University, Blount Chapel, on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Dante Pauley from Tunstall Middle School emerged as the winner. The winning word was toploftical, which means very superior in air or attitude. The winner is able to compete in the National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Maryland May 26-31.

Big Brothers Big Sisters at Capitol Hill
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area CEO Pat Daniel attended BBBS at Capitol Hill Day in Washington DC on February 28, 2024. 115 BBBS agency leaders from 91 agencies from 31 states were in attendance as well as local BBBS affiliate CEO's, National Staff, and BBBS Board of Directors members.
