On April 4, 2015, 20 people from The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area went on the Cherry Blossom Tour to Washington D.C., which was organized by the Pittsylvania Co. Parks and Recreation. Everyone departed from Kmart’s parking lot at 7:00 am to Lynchburg, VA, and from there boarded the train for Washington D.C. On the train there was food, snacks, sight-seeing, and activities. They spent two hours in Washington D.C. at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum. There they saw the history of stamps, different types of transportation used for mail delivery, and the history of Civil Rights. After that was all said and done, everyone enjoyed dinner and arrived back to Danville at 10:00 pm. This event was sponsored by The Hughes Foundation.
