On Wednesday July, 15th, 2015 Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area traveled to Meadows of The Dan, VA. In route they viewed “Lovers Leap” and continued on to Nancy’s Candy Co. Thirty-one participants attended. At Nancy’s Candy Co., the children were able to watch the making of truffles and were given a guided tour by Frank Fox, plant manager and former board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area. They also went to Blue Ridge pathway to Mabry Mill. Before returning home, the youth had lunch at Jane’s Country Café. This trip was sponsored by The J.T. Minnie Maude.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area provides one-to-one mentoring for children in Danville and Pittsylvania County, serving over 300 children annually.

2024 Regional Scripps Spelling Bee
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area held the Regional Spelling Bee at Averett University, Blount Chapel, on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Dante Pauley from Tunstall Middle School emerged as the winner. The winning word was toploftical, which means very superior in air or attitude. The winner is able to compete in the National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Maryland May 26-31.

Big Brothers Big Sisters at Capitol Hill
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area CEO Pat Daniel attended BBBS at Capitol Hill Day in Washington DC on February 28, 2024. 115 BBBS agency leaders from 91 agencies from 31 states were in attendance as well as local BBBS affiliate CEO's, National Staff, and BBBS Board of Directors members.
