John Gilstrap and Liberty (Luke) Barker have been matched for seven years. John meets with his little faithfully every week. He is very concerned about Liberty’s school work and his social enrichment. He has always looked up to John. The Big has taught him how to respect his peers, adults, and other cultures.
Over the years, Luke has grown into a very mature young man. Luke’s grades have drastically improved and he is now more involved with sports. Not only is John a wonderful volunteer, he is a supporter and a sustainer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area. Whatever needs to be done, he is just a phone call away. He also reaches out to other members of Luke’s family as well. These two have been an inseparable match from the beginning and they don’t plan on stopping now.
