BBBS and Jr. Wednedsay Club Come Together For “Yoga Night”

On Monday, April 9th Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area in conjunction with members of the Jr. Wednesday Club came together for “Yoga Night”. The young ladies participated in Yoga led by instructor Christina Decker. Then the littles played a “Get to Know You” game with M& M’s.  Then they finished the night with a healthy dinner. BBBS Presented With Donation

The Westmoreland Neighborhood Churches held ecumenical Lenten Services from February 14th 2018 – March 29th 2018. The services included Ash Wednesday and Maundy Thursday services. Teachings were done from the “Loving Generously” series at neighborhood churches. On Thursday, March 29th Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area was the recipient of the non-profit  donation. Little “Make Their Own Dinner”

On Thursday, March 29th a few “littles” of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area along with members of the Jr. Wednesday Club enjoyed a “Make Your Dinner Event” at the United Way. The girls were able to make their own tacos and made smoothies for dessert. They also played board games and other activities. The Local Scripps Spelling Bee

Day of Happiness

On Tuesday, March 20th Ben David Jewelers hosted “A Day of Happiness” at their location of Danville, VA. Our “littles” were able to describe what happiness means to them on paper that was displayed on a wall for the public to view.  They were also given the opportunity to try on Rolex watches and given special gifts. Littles Enjoy Spring Event and Learn about the “True Meaning of Easter”

On Monday, March 19th The Willing Servants Sunday School Class of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church hosted a Spring event. Our littles played games, “shot hoops”, and enjoyed a pizza dinner followed by cupcakes for dessert. On Saturday, March 10th Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area held their Annual Bowl For Kids’ Sake at Riverside Lanes. There was various teams from corporations of Danville/Pittsylvania Co. along with fraternities, sororities, and unions. Willing Servants Sunday School

On February 19th Joe Nicholson led an event with our littles along with other members of the Willing Servants Sunday School class of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. Joe taught the children a lesson and helped them with a fun activity. There was a feast of spaghetti, salad, and deserts. Littles Travel to Richmond, VA

On Friday, February 26th  29 littles and 8 mentors traveled with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area to Richmond, VA and stayed overnight. On Saturday, February 27th there was a visit to the Tom Leonard’s Farmer’s Market in Glen Allen, VA. Every child was given the opportunity to purchase two fruits of their choice. Littles Celebrate “Fat Tuesday”

On Thursday, February 15th our littles visited the Ascension Lutheran Church in celebration of “Fat Tuesday”  with a pancake supper. They had their choice of regular or blueberry pancakes. Also, they had a Mardi Gras parade marching to the tune of “When the Saints Go Marching In”. During their march they held umbrellas, wore masks, and beads. Arts and crafts were led by two women of the church’s congregation.
