Many months ago, Cara Burton came to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area to set up a pottery class. She let us know that she had always wanted to be a “Big”. Elizabeth and Destiny have only been matched for a short time but they have still managed to form a strong bond. Ms. Jennings has taken her little sister to a variety of places. Cici’s is Destiny’s favorite restaurant. The volunteer assists Destiny with her social skills. Destiny is currently an honor student. On Monday, July 14th a few littles took off for a five day overnight camp to the W.E. Skelton Educational Center located in Smith Mountain Lake to enjoy many outdoor activities and lots of fun!
On July 7th, Our Little’s began swimming classes held at the YMCA sponsored by the Womack Foundation! These classes were five days long and the little’s seemed to catch on pretty fast!

Big Brothers Big Sisters has awarded Daisy Simmons as the Big of The Year! The award was presented at the Danville-Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours event at the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Danville Area office recently. She and her little, Destiny Roberts have been matched for four years. Destiny’s grades and attitude have improved and Simmons has enjoyed watching her grow and evolve into a fine young lady….

Dr. Saria Saccocio came to Big Brothers Big Sisters to do whatever she could to make our organization better. She became a board member almost three years ago.
