Group from BBBS Danville Area Takes Cherry Blossom Tour in D.C.

On April 4, 2015, 20 people from The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area went on the Cherry Blossom Tour to Washington D.C., which was organized by the Pittsylvania Co. Parks and Recreation. 2015 Spelling Bee

On Saturday, March 21st, 2015 was the local Spelling Bee held at Blount Chapel of Averett University of Danville, VA. From 17 contestants, Caleb Adams, son of Ann and Randy Adams, emerged as the winner. Caleb attends Westwood Middle School. After 126 rounds, Caleb spelled the word (crumpet) that gave him the lead over the second place contestant, Luke Garcia, who attends Sacred Heart School. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area Travels to Petersburg & Richmond

On Sunday, January 25th, 35 people, including Bigs and other volunteers traveled to Petersburg, VA where they toured the Virginia State University’s Campus. On Monday, January 26th there was another tour of the Virginia State Capital Building in Richmond, VA. There, a tour guide led everyone through the historical building and spoke about the symbolism of certain rooms.
