On Saturday, September 19, 2015 Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area attended a guided tour of The University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. Everyone dined at “O’Hill” University dining and also attended the football game. The Cavaliers played against William & Mary’s Griffins and prevailed.
On Thursday, September 17, 2015 The Civics Club of George Washington High School sponsored and attended an event for our youth. They enjoyed miniature golf and ended the night with a light supper.
On September 15, 2015, our organization was represented by Assistant Match Specialist, Shirley Barksdale at The DCC Fall Festival.
In six months, Queen Boyd has made an impact on Keionna White’s life. She has provided direction and activities for the youth outside of her home and regular environment. Vera Vaden is a fun Big Sister. She creates all kinds of unique and fun-filled activities for her little. They travel to nearby cities for parties and science exhibits. On Thursday, August 13th 2015 CiCi’s Pizza hosted a Dine to Donate Event for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area. 15% of proceeds from 4pm-8pm were given to the organization. Big’s, little’s, volunteers, and board members attended this event and enjoyed themselves while supporting the cause. On Thursday, August 6th, 2015 Big Brothers Big Sisters held the Annual Back-To-School Picnic at Dan Daniel Park of Danville, VA. Bigs, littles, volunteers, board members, and sponsors were in attendance. Backpacks and afterschool snacks were provided for the youth. There was food, fun, and snow cones. On Wednesday July, 15th, 2015 Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area traveled to Meadows of The Dan, VA. In route they viewed “Lovers Leap” and continued on to Nancy’s Candy Co. 2024 Regional Scripps Spelling Bee
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area held the Regional Spelling Bee at Averett University, Blount Chapel, on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Dante Pauley from Tunstall Middle School emerged as the winner. The winning word was toploftical, which means very superior in air or attitude. The winner is able to compete in the National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Maryland May 26-31.

Big Brothers Big Sisters at Capitol Hill
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area CEO Pat Daniel attended BBBS at Capitol Hill Day in Washington DC on February 28, 2024. 115 BBBS agency leaders from 91 agencies from 31 states were in attendance as well as local BBBS affiliate CEO's, National Staff, and BBBS Board of Directors members.
