Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area, The Salvation Army of Danville, Virginia, Danville Church & Community Tutorial Program, and Boys & Girls Clubs of the Danville Area took a trip to Washington DC July 18-19. There were 51 in total who visited DC, 17 of which were from BBBS. Everyone visited Blackburn Hall at Howard University to see the School of Social Work where they learned about admissions, financial aid, and school programs….

On April 25, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area enjoyed a picnic dinner on the grounds of the Danville Farmers Market. The Danville Concert Association provided free tickets for 14 youth and 3 chaperones to attend a concert at the Pavillion for the Atlanta Symphony Pops. The youth are looking forward to the next classical outing.
On April 24, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area enjoyed an evening at Riverside Lanes. They bowled with and without the bumpers. Ahmir had the highest score of 118. Everyone had fun and celebrated with a snack from the concession stand.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area held the Regional Spelling Bee at Averett University, Blount Chapel, on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Dante Pauley from Tunstall Middle School emerged as the winner. The winning word was toploftical, which means very superior in air or attitude. BBBS of Danville Area hosted the Annual Pancake Breakfast in the SOVAH Health Danville Dining Room on Saturday, December 2. BBBS Capitol Hill Day took place in Washington DC on Feb 26. The training sessions focused on Senate and Congressional Presentations. The trip ended with visits to Senators Kaine and Warner's offices and Congresspersons John McGuire, Jennifer McClellan, and Ben Cline.
