On Saturday, September 26th, BBBS youth volunteered at Donation Station at the Community Market. They raised money to purchase fruits and vegetables for God’s Storehouse; at the end of the day, they collected goods from the farmers. On Thursday, September 24th through Friday September 25th, six youth of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area attended the Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference in Norfolk, VA. On Thursday the students attended a number of seminars at the Youth Café. On Friday, they attended tours of both Old Dominion University and Norfolk State University. On Saturday, September 19, 2015 Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area attended a guided tour of The University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. Everyone dined at “O’Hill” University dining and also attended the football game. The Cavaliers played against William & Mary’s Griffins and prevailed.
On Thursday, September 17, 2015 The Civics Club of George Washington High School sponsored and attended an event for our youth. They enjoyed miniature golf and ended the night with a light supper.

In six months, Queen Boyd has made an impact on Keionna White’s life. She has provided direction and activities for the youth outside of her home and regular environment. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area provides one-to-one mentoring for children in Danville and Pittsylvania County, serving over 300 children annually.
The 2025 Scripps Regional Spelling Bee was held Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 3:00pm at Averett University's Blount Chapel. Dr. Marc Muneal acted as a pronouncer. The three judges were Dr. Jennifer Hughes, Eben Leigh and Tia Yancey.
Twelve students competed in the Bee from the city of Danville and Pittsylvania County Public Schools. There was one student from Sacred Heart School. The Bee went on for seven rounds with Layla Barrett from Chatham Middle School, emerging as the winner. The winning word was "stupa."

J. Hoffman, J. Word, M. Beasley (Board Chair), S Wingate, E. A. Woody, E. White, J. Menefee, and M. Mondul attended a Board of Directors meeting for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area. The meeting was held at Caesar's Virginia on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
BBBS Capitol Hill Day took place in Washington DC on Feb 26. The training sessions focused on Senate and Congressional Presentations. The trip ended with visits to Senators Kaine and Warner's offices and Congresspersons John McGuire, Jennifer McClellan, and Ben Cline.
