Bigs and Littles Have Training

On November 3, a few of our little’s and a few Big Brothers had a training at Texas Steakhouse where the trainer was 4H agent, Tadashi Totten from the Virginia Corporate Ext. There was also games and activities, dinner was provided and there was lots of fun. This event was sponsored by the Community Foundation of the Dan River Region.

Littles Visit Rigney Farm

On Monday, October 27, a few of our little’s visited The Rigney Farm. After the farm tour, which included feeding the cows, they grilled hot dogs and roasted marshmallows. This event was sponsored by the Mt. Hermon Willing Servants Sunday School Class.

Girls Visit Owen Farm

On Monday, October 20, was our girl’s turn to head out to Owen Farm, Dry Fork, VA. They were also given a tour of the farm and picked pumpkins from the garden. September Big of the Month: Mrs. Cara Burton

Many months ago, Cara Burton came to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area to set up a pottery class. She let us know that she had always wanted to be a “Big”. Cara completed an application and was interviewed. Within the next few weeks, the “Big” had a “little.” Big Cara and little Cara seem to be a perfect match. August Big of the Month: Elizabeth Jennings

Elizabeth and Destiny have only been matched for a short time but they have still managed to form a strong bond. Ms. Jennings has taken her little sister to a variety of places. Cici’s is Destiny’s favorite restaurant. The volunteer assists Destiny with her social skills. Destiny is currently an honor student.
