BBBS Capitol Hill Day took place in Washington DC on Feb 26. The training sessions focused on Senate and Congressional Presentations. The trip ended with visits to Senators Kaine and Warner’s offices and Congresspersons John McGuire, Jennifer McClellan, and Ben Cline. On Tuesday, Jan 21, the SAO Consortium had their monthly meeting at Sundae Selfie Studio on Mount Cross Road. BGCDVA CEO Gary Terry, BBBS of Danville Area CEO Pat Daniel, and CCBT ED Kenny Lewis met, had lunch, and took selfies. Owner and Hostess Jabrille Brown gave a tour of the studio.
On Wednesday, Jan 29, CIC Head Start held a vision screening at the Boys and Girls Club on Foster St, Danville, VA. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area Little Marquarius participated in the screening along with 16 other youth.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area held our Annual Pancake Breakfast on December 14, 2024, in the large dining room of SOVAH, Danville, VA. Danville’s National Night Out was held on Oct 8 at Westmoreland. Assistant Police Chief David Whitley and Police Advisory Member Pat Daniel were pictured together at the community event. The plan is for Assistant Chief and BBBS to work together throughout their assignment to improve the lives of the Danville community.

On July 24, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Danville Area hosted George Bell, Guinness World Record’s tallest man at 7 ft 8 in tall. George visited with 100 children and youth to talk about bullying. He taught the youth to not bully and to not allow others to bully them. The youth were treated to an early dinner afterwards.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area provides one-to-one mentoring for children in Danville and Pittsylvania County, serving over 300 children annually.
